How we operate

We hunt for genuinely good holiday deals, so more people can get away for less.

Holidays should not cost more than they need to

A week in the sun is something everyone deserves, but holiday prices go up and down all the time, and it is hard to know whether the price in front of you is a bargain or just well-marketed. That is the problem Holiday Deal Finder exists to solve.

We search offers from travel companies every day, compare each price with the prices we have recorded before, and only call something a deal when the numbers back it up. Every price shows when we last checked it, so you always know how fresh it is. You spend less time searching and more of your budget on the holiday itself.

How we decide what is a deal

Today our deals are return flights from UK airports. For every route and month we compare the cheapest fare with a typical fare for the same route and month:

  • once we have tracked the route on at least 10 days in the last 30, the average of the lowest fares we recorded on those days;
  • before that, the median of the current fares for the route and month, when there are at least 8 of them.

A fare is a good deal when it is at least 25% below the typical fare, and a great deal from 40%. We only list stays of 2–14 nights departing at least 3 days from today, and fares found in the last 2 days. Every deal says what it is compared with. We never show a made-up “was” price, and when a deal ends its page says so instead of showing the old price as current.

You pay the same price

Holiday Deal Finder is free to use. When you choose a deal, we send you to the travel company to book, and you pay exactly the same price as you would if you went to that company directly. Your booking, payment and any changes or refunds are handled by them.

How we are paid

When you click a link to a travel company and then book, that company may pay us a commission. This affiliate commission is how we keep the site free and keep looking for deals.

Commission never changes:

  • the prices we show: we show the price the company gives us, and when we last checked it;
  • whether we call something a deal: that depends on how the price compares with prices we have recorded;
  • the order of results: deals are ranked by price and value for the trip you searched for.

Some links on the site are affiliate links even when they are not labelled one by one. If anything here is unclear, please contact us.
